Winter Solstice (aka "Gau Dong" in Chinese)

we started the day off by going to dim sum!! yay!!!! finally as a huge group!!! Julian... LOOKIN' GOOD!! ;)

school girls' uniforms always amaze me....theyre all different! i shouldve started a photo collection!

 we bought little crabs!!! :)

we decided to cook these because if we just boiled them, they wouldve been a waste because all the taste wouldve just boiled away :(

in the back there you can see the veggies on a smaller table!!!

This little "fish ball" WAS SOO GOOD!! and we called it the onion one because it is shaped like a pearl onion almost...inside was like.. CAVIAR.. it was DELICIOUS!! the ones in the back .. forgot to take a better pic (was too busy eating) but are filled with CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!! !@!#$!@$@! SOO GOOD!!!! it's no WONDER so many people hot pot in HK!!

This one inside was filled with Sea Urchin1!! ALSO AMAZING.. you know which ones i'm probably talking about..the orange ones.. we called them mints because they look like mints LOL! SOO COOLL!!! i wish canada had these kinda of fish balls..theyre soo delicous..

Edwin and Thao joined us!! we had enoguh food for like 10 people... sooo full but soo good!!

YUMM!! best winter solstice celebration ever!! (only because it's the only winter solstice celebration i've ever had!)

more friends!!!!

Julian's cousin took us to DING TAI FUNG in Causeway Bay which is a Taiwanese restaurant but serves up Shanghai food! :) (my cousin told me that).. and at the front when you walk in, you'll see a small kitchen to the right and thats where the magic happens!!! aka make dumplings... there's like 12 people in there!!

cucumbers with chilli ... i must say, i've had better.. and my grandma makes it much better too hehe! she's shanghai!

this is a bean curd dish... it's kind of traditional in shanghai food?? i'm not sure..but either way, i was introduced to this by my grandma. and I LOVE IT....

the soup dumplings were also okay..not enough soup!!  and also really doughy and chewy (the skin).. and i have to say.. the best soup dumplings EVER are in new york city .. called joe's shanghai....(also because my grandparents live in jersey).. do i sound like a shanghai food snob?? lol!

i've never seen these before... but they were cool! they look like money pouches!! but inside was glutinous rice! so cute!

we ordered ONE veggie and pork bun.. didn't know it'd be one bun and not one serving lol...

afterwards we went to an arcade..they have sooo many cool arcade vending machines...

omg these were so hilarious.. we played mario kart (as if we were playing daytona) and they take pics of you before you play ... lol thers me at the bottom right.. lol so funny!!

headed to SOGO again.. which is a big huge department store...and at the bottom level is a grocery store.. and we bought MILK PUDDING!! SOO GOOD!!!

at night time i went to eat with my aunt and dad.. we had BO JAI FAN!.. aka ceramic pot rice.... (sounds cuter in chinese).. they pour water and raw rice in...top it off with some meat and/or salty egg and cook it for like 20 minutes...

 we got oyster pancake!

^_^

met up with friends again to go for desserts ... and this is Sharon's huge list of places to eat!!
