My Dinners so far...

So, I don't know if anyone is interested, but I've been taking pictures of my dinners and sending them to Jeff because.. well... i always do :) I don't really know why...or if he even wants these emails..but I'm making him look at them anyway! Since i have these pictures... and i'm trying my best to keep this blog entertaining (for the few that follow), i figured, let's post for the public!! I am in NO WAY a professional cook (even though i think i am ;p ) and am always looking for ideas.. that are easy of course..and healthy! These are not every night's dinners.. so here are the ones i've captured..

This one below is an extremely lazy and i got in from the airport late this night.. so i went to the grocery store, and bought potato salad and meatballs.... yeah no veggies :( and store bought.. ugh.. Wasn't horrible...but the dinner indeed looks sad...

 This one below is actually a meal i cooked this week! (previous one was from two weeks ago). I made some broccoli with onions...cole slaw (random huh..)... and SALMON with garlic and dill.. (forgot about the lemons!) and a side of rice...

 Next night I got pretty lazy.. and didn't really know what my dinner was going to be.. but i ended up making chicken with onions garlic and i just topped it off with cheese... i ended up eating this with tsaziki?? mmmm.... yeah.. and then sauteed some tomatoes.. which was.. interesting..

today!!! was super yummy!!! i made turkey burgers.. i put minced onions and cheese and some dill in the burger...and egg..! and then i cut up some avocado becuase it's slowly going bad... :) and then my roast potatoes... (dill and garlic)

yeah i bought some fresh dill... so i have to use it all up before it goes bad!!

what else should i make???

Ain't this fitting? I've seen it a couple times now (if i walk down 11th Ave).. and i just kept forgetting to take a picture of it... but now that i have, i can look at this everyday! :) i love it! I try to change up my route going home so that i don't get bored. but for now, this will be what i look forward to if i do take this route :)

My Walk to work!

Well, not to my tiny Navantis office, but to the client's! So..this video isn't TOO exciting :( and it was pretty dead downtown for some reason.. i swear there's just a tiny bit more people than usual! LOL! Anyway, here's a photo of the city while walking to work:

What I ate

 

So, so far, i haven't had to cook for myself yet! LOL! pretty awesome.. Sunday night was the only exception i guess... i had to buy groceries so i went to the pre-cooked section and just bought meatballs and potato salad :(  (pictured above)... pretty sad huh? but the meatballs were tasty.. i bought them from this expensive place called Sunterra.. 

Monday night, I took home some leftover sushi from a lunch meeting (that i wasn't part of) and ate that... nothing crazy.. but FREEEEEEEE!!!!! 

Wednesday night, i was invited by my boss to go out to dinner with them since they were in town.. so of course i can't deny free!!!!!!

We went to a place on Stephen avenue called Divino.... some italian place.. pretty damn good.. i ordered the Veal chop... came with some veggies that were a bit too bitter for my liking....and this ricotta cheese spaghetti.. i got called out by one of the people i had dinner with (2 VP sales guys and my boss from toronto.. and 2 senior sales guys from Microsoft.. one guy looked like he was from dragon's den)... and the guy that looked like he was from dragon's den was liek:
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? TAKING A PICTURE?!"
i was like "yes.......................... "
" OH! i have a friend that does the same.. always likes to show off what he ate"
"haha yeah.. i normally get teased by doing this... but i like to post little reviews online..."

that was a bit embarrassing.. but.. oh well! :) nice guys...

tonight, meeting with more toronto navantis folks and having dinner with them as well... YAY!!! but my overpriced groceries better not go bad...

Where i work...

SO!, the reason why i'm here... is for work! so why not let you all see what my workplace looks like..

i retreat here when i'm not at the client's office..which i'll do a video of too if i ever get the chance to... one of their office locations are freakin amazing... enough of that ..

Calgary!! I'm moved in!

SO! what you've all been waiting for!! and when i say ALL i mean ALL 2 followers of my blog :)

BUT i've finally moved my stuff into my place here in Calgary.. yes i still can't believe i'm actually living here!! in a different time zone! :( (MDT -07:00) that's code for mountain time and that i'm two hours behind!

OK so i know i might sound a bit weird but i am pretty congested right now and it's been annoying the crap out of me :( I had to train a class for an hour today with this... i feel like my nose and throat is just filled with 10 gallons of phelgm! AND I SUCK at coughing it out!! In my mind i think that if i swallow it, it'll disappear... :( ok enough about that...

So i did film this at night after a dinner with biggie! yay!! my first visitor!!! :) 

So yes we did go to Saltlik :) and it was awesome.. a lot of food and he really wanted to try the lobster butter soup... mashed potatoes and as good as they look, they weren't that good and NO we didnt finish it.... :) swear to god!

i walked home that night.. and it wasnt that bad.. streets were quiet of course..but i expected that.. the scariest part was just walking to the entrance of my place with that stupid drop in center right across the street :( what can i do! anyway, it's now 12am.. and i have to get up at 6am to get to the airport to make an 8am flight! back to toronto i go!

The One That Got Away

This place -- i have no words to describe it.. where do i begin?

I got here at 9:40 - they close at 10pm and we were starving and needed late night eats! So how can we turn down fish tacos, fish and chips, and other fish related foods?! HUGE fan of fish tacos here!

We go in, and there were 6 of us... but 4/6 ordered fish tacos (which are only available after 2pm) and 1 ordered the Arctic Char and chips.. (1/6 ordered just fries).

The fish tacos came with 3 of them (no sides) and it game with a small ramekin of what LOOKED like guacamole -- but definitely wasn't. I believe it was a jalepeno hot sauce.. SPICY! these tacos were amazing! there were gigantic pieces of fried fish and it definitely got messy with all the sauce..

I didn't get a chance to try the arctic char but it sure did look moist! and as for the fries?! its a ketchup and vinegar heaven!!!

i am actually torn that i don't work closer and i want to literally try everything on their menu.. you can get these fish as sandwiches or wraps or just the usual fish and chip combo... ugh! amazing!!!

the service was excellent.. the guys that work there are casual and cool and are indeed friendly.. i accidentally dumped out my metal fork into the garbage when i was cleaning up and was teased at by them!.. but it's all good :) super nice guys.. theres no doubt that people will go back!

Thompson Hotel Rooftop Party for EnRoute Air Canada!

So my friends and I attended a rooftop party at the Thompson Hotel in Toronto for an Air Canada party.. you know what that means!! free booze and free food! :) always a good time...

Mingled with others... and of course hoped to win the amazing prizes! (first place prize was two flights to anywhere that Air Canada flies.. oh god!)

Tuan -- always on his phone of course! Cannot stay away from technology these days...


This is a breathtaking view of the city... no wonder it's so god damn expensive to stay at this hotel!


Here's the partay -- it was a rooftop but there were giant sliding doors that opened up so that you could go indoors to the bar.. (did i mention free booze?)



Lesson of the day: have friends that work in media :)

he cooks?! he cooks!!

so jeff's parents and my parents were out of town (at the same time!) so we knew we had to take advantage of this.............................. you're dirty i know what you're thinking!! BAD!

what i meant was.. HE NEEDED TO COOK FOR ME! :) since he's never done so before.. .i did help him out a little bit :) like chopping and stirring.....and maybe add a few spices... but he did do most of it..and hell.. i'll make this one count! so we made baked pasta :) YUM!.. of course we loaded it with cheese..but underneath that is some green peppers and mushrooms with ground turkey!





and we couldn't NOT bake it :) unfortunately, i only had this once.. and another time a few days later.. i couldn't even take it home to eat all day the next day because i had my wisdom teeth taken out the following morning... but it sure didn't stop me from nibbling.. haha yes i'm horrible..

i LOVED the music in the movie Drive. So retro and cool! :) too bad there aren't that many songs on the OST itself..will have to look for this guy's album!

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Adapted from Pacific Harvest Events

1 stick (4 oz) unsalted butter, softened
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons honey

In a mixer or by hand, cream the butter with the salt, cinnamon and honey until thoroughly mixed. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator. Spread on everything.
